THINGS I WON'T MISS
1. The strong smell of the Dairy Barns and feed lots that are near the roads we traveled.
2. Jumping cactus that seemed to like to attach to me when walking in the desert.
3. Cheap wine
4. Interstate driving at peak hours
5. Intermittent WiFi reception
6. Arizona dentists
7. Short showers and lack of hot water ( we have that solved now)
8. Mesa Swap Meet or Market
9. Red necked prejudiced people that we ran into, who hated anyone who was not white and would pull a gun if they could get away with it.
10. Americans who believe that the Canadian Medicare system is flawed and lots of people die waiting for appendix surgery.
11. American political mentality. Such hate for who ever is in power vs the Canadian way where we might not agree with the party in power but we respect our leader.
12. The airplanes early in the morning but we did get used to it after awhile.
THINGS I WILL MISS
1. The new friends we made and the old friends with whom we got to spend time.
2. Playing canasta every day that I could at 11:45
3. Only seven miles to drive to shop
4. Waking up every day to clear skies and sun
5. Driving into Casa Grande and seeing small mountains on all sides
6. Looking out the window and seeing palm trees and cacti
7.In a Pear Tree ( my fav store)
8. Craft classes and learning new art ideas
9. Pub cheese
10. Freshly picked oranges (the sweetest you have ever tasted but go bad quickly as no preservatives)
11. Craft and Yard sales somewhere within driving distance every week
12. Honey Dates
13. Artisan Bread and Buns from the Tues market
14. Being able to have the sun roof open on the car every day
15. Louie and Philip who did my pedicures for $20 and my gel nails for $35 and a fill for $15 and who also increase my knowledge of their hardships of their life in Viet Nam
16. Seeing Harvey enjoy his billiard mornings with his new friends.
So friends and relatives who read this blog...it is now done until the next time I get the urge to write about something important in my life... I think I may start a craft blog but not for awhile..I need a break. I now have 5 blogs that will be inactive. I sure wish they just went away, as I find it hard just deleting them myself, as just a little of one's soul are in those written words.
Thank you for reading, thank you for your nice comments, thank you for understanding that they are just my words and may not be the way you think..but isn't it wonderful that we all are different.

Home
...and she clicked her Ruby Red slippers and said " There is no place like home!"
We arrived back in SC about 5 pm, stopped to get a few groceries, piled them on top of the stuff in the back seat and headed home. It started to snow/rain as we travelled down #4 and we figured Yep ....show us your force Mr Winter. ......but we did pack in a box of sunshine and heat and you should be getting it by weekend..lol
We got the heat turned up and brought in a few things from the car and then started the task of trying to get the water turned on and the hot water heater lit.
Harvey flipped the switch for the pump and NOTHING. He then made the crawl under the house to look at the pressure system and poke at it a bit. STILL NOTHING He flipped the breaker a few times and then left a message for our Plumbing Prince Harry at the Coop to call us. We figured no water tonight until he could come out tomorrow and fix the problem.
We went next door to our friend Donna's place to see we could turn on her water in case we needed to go to the toilet and then came home to find the water was working..... I guess the Plumbing God just wanted to show us his power too....
Then the task of bringing into our house a house hold of things from Arizona......lots of things we will not take next time. I think I heard Harvey murmur..."you are not taking all this crafting crap next time". By 9 pm we were fading so fast we finally figured we needed to eat , so made a plate and turned on the TV........NOTHING......yes the TV did not have any channels. We had turned off our Bell service for the time we were away and I guess when they turned it back on at the end of February it needed some re setting. I called the toll free line and got the Grump from Bombay..... He lead me through a long process and finally got it working.
Today we will start putting things away so we can walk through the rooms again, washing clothes, putting away all my boxes of craft supplies.....and look out the window at the snow and grey skies and wonder WHY?
I will do one more post tomorrow and then this baby will be put to bed....

Still truckin along
Last night we made it to Orem Utah..... we thought we had stopped in Provo but the bill said Orem...lol
Those Morman towns all look alike lol
We had a good supper at Applebees and then faded early.
Up and to breakfast by 8 and on the road by 8:30. It was a beautiful sunny day but as it was only plus5 I did finally move from sandals to socks and shoes....My feet were not happy but they were warm.
We zipped along at 80 miles an hour most of the time until we got into the mountain curves where Harvey kept trying to pretend he was a race track driver around the curves. I closed my eyes a lot and hung on to the handle above the door. The passes were clear and no snow on the road so that made the day alot better.
As it was sunny I took out my little cactus that I found in our gravel in front of the park model in Sunscape. It was only half the size of my little finger and I knew he would not survive, so I decided to plant , water and feed and smuggle into Canada. I have him planted in a plastic juice bottle and today I opened it up and let him breathe and sit in the sunlight. Tonight he is under the lamp that is faking Arizona sun. I am assuming a cactus is a plant and I am not allowed to bring across the border. Will little "Sunny the Cactus" make it? Stay tuned.
Tonight we are settled into La Quinta in Helena and tomorrow night we hope to be in our own bed at home.

Day 3 Mexico
Today we woke up early ( well I did..sleeping beauty had to be woke with the smell of coffee)...and could hear the wind howling. I looked out and could hardly see the mountains from blowing sand and dirt. We went down for a cheap breakfast and then drove to the car par and walked back into Mexico.
I had ordered two pair of glasses, one just trifocals and the other trifocal sunglasses. The cost was $85 for each of them. They were to be ready at 10 am but when we arrived at 11:30 only one was ready and we were told that the sunglasses had too much of a curve to be able to put the trifocals lens in to be visually correct. Do you not think that could have been noticed yesterday??? So after arguing for a few mins, we agreed to having them mail to us at home. If they don't fit I guess I will just have to try to fix myself.....
It was then time to hit the road and fight the wind north. We made it to Laughlin by 5 o'clock and settled into the Aquarious Casino Hotel. I lost my money quickly and I am sitting in Starbucks doing this dumb blog ( that will be euthanized shortly). If we want WIFI in our room it will cost $12 for each laptop...Me thinks NO!........
Well I better go find Harvey and see if he has won enough to pay our bills this month......
We hope by tomorrow the snow will have stopped in Salt Lake and north. If not we will stay another day and just call Blue Cross and extend our insurance. We did not know you can do that but we have been told you can do it once during a trip.

GoodBye Sunscape Hello Mexico Day 1 and 2
After 3 days of massive clean out of things we could not take along and then cramming things into every tiny space available in the car we were ready to leave. I know if we come again, we will not bring alot of the things along that we did not use this time and we will down size food a lot earlier. It was shameful the amount of opened food we threw away. We did give away some of the unopened containers, like pop, salmon, and cheese. It seemed the last 2 weeks just flew by and time ran out for us.
We got to the border and parked our car in the parking lot and walked quickly into town to find the dentist.
Now if you don't know ..Aldogones is a small Mexican town very near the border of California/Arizona...called Baja Calif. It is said there are over 400 dentists in a 6 block square radius plus hundreds of eye glass places and pharmacies as well. There are Mexican men all along the street calling out to you if you want a good dentist or pharmacy drugs. Lots of Americans come to get their legal drugs and as well lots and lots of Canadians and Americans are getting dental crowns, implants and other dental work done at a 10th of what it costs at home. Of course "Cash only"
You see the very rich and the average person getting beautiful white smiles in a few days work.
I asked what it would cost for a complete upper plate, a partial lower plate and my last 4 front teeth cleaned and whitened. Total would be $500.
Now back to our arrival. We had recommendations of good dentists from a few different friends and chose the one that quoted the cheapest price for a new bottom plate. With our little tiny business card showing the map to the shop, in hand, we nearly ran down each street fighting off the hawkers to find the place as we thought we were late. I had forgot that there is no such a thing as late in Mexico or any other southern hot country... They all move at a speed slightly below slow.....
They must of thought us crazy as we loped down the middle of the street. We first turned the wrong direction and headed up the wrong way but after giving a couple of dollars to a man he told us to go the other way, We finally found the little hole in the wall office and the tiny door sign that could have easily been missed if we had blinked.
We entered and the seats were all filled with other Canadians waiting for the dentist. The beautiful Marie who spoke perfect English welcomed us and took the information on what I required. She informed us to make a new plate and have it fitted, we would have to wait 3 days. We had figured 2 days not 3, and as our insurance will run out by Monday, we knew we could not wait that long. She said she would have the dentist check to see if it could be repaired instead. I was called in and handed over my plate that was in two separate pieces.... As he rolled his eyes I said..."They were in my pocket and just broke as I shrugged my shoulders. He played around trying to fit them together as if they were pieces of a jigsaw puzzle and then called in another Dr who the placed them into my mouth, held them pushed up to my four remaining teeth and the other Dr started shooting something in my mouth and then something like solder or glue being used to hold them together.... Quickly an impression was taken of the whole contraption in my mouth and said they would send it to a lab to see if they could redo the silver part to make it hold together. I was to come back the next day at 1 pm . They would do their best but no guarantee would be issued.
Day 2 Mexico
I returned Thursday, waited an hour and was taken into office where the dentist put the plate into my mouth and then after finding many placed the gave me discomfort....he went out and ground and sanded down the spots about 4 times. It finally felt good and it was sent on my way to pay for the two days work. I paid the $50 and I have been eating well ever since.... Now two things that were different from home ( well other than not understanding them and listening to Mexican music during procedure) was the fact that at no time was I given a bit of water to wash out the goop from the impression or the taste of his fingers and never was I shown a mirror to see how I looked.
We then headed towards the border as we knew the lines would be getting long. We had heard about the bikes with seats at the back that will take you in the car line, through the border check and then right to the walk way to the car park for only $5 a person.
We found a line of people waiting and spent 90 mins waiting for our turn while others walked and passed us as they went through the border check. After an hour we were just all too stubborn to switch bike spots or go to the walk line and just waited it out.
We watched the guards with guns as they watched the cars go by and also visited with other misplaced people.....
We left Sunscape early Wed morning and dropped off the last garbage
and headed for Yuma. We had booked to stay at the Quechan Resort and Casino which is only a couple of miles from Algodones Mexico. We raced toward Yuma after being held up a half an hour or more due to traffic down to one lane as a big semi had smashed. We got to the border and parked our car in the parking lot and walked quickly into town to find the dentist.

Back to the hotel and spent the evening playing the slots.. I won $294 on one pull so that was kind of fun but soon I bored of the slots and headed up to the room to watch a bit of TV, Harvey followed soon and to sleep early.

Last Week
This will be our last week of normal living here in La LA land.....We will take in some billiards, cards, bingo, and the yearly theatre production put on by residents. I wonder what they do if the play calls for a 20 year old? lol
We also are going to spend sometime looking at other places to rent that we had contacted in the fall when we were looking for a place to rent. We do not know if we will be able to come back next year but if we did, we want to have a few ideas on places to stay. Where we are now is for sale and certainly no guarantee that it will be available. We will take some pictures and talk to a few people to get ideas on rental places. We like this park as we have made friends but there are other nice parks in the area as well.
Yesterday was a fun day at the casino in Fort McDowell as we got on to slots that paid and took away all day long. We stayed on the same set of Wizard of Oz slots and walked out with about $450 to the good.... Now that does not happen very often so a great way to end our time here.
As well in the evening we played Card Bingo and each of us one a game.... Now in card bingo, it cost ten cents a game and with about 30 people playing , we made enough for a hamburger.....
We are going to stop buying any groceries and try to get rid of some of the things we have in the frig and cupboards as we do not want to take any food home so we will be throwing out spices, sugars, flours , baking supplies ( lol which I never used ) and we will be eating things like soup, pasta, rice, and mixes that I thought I would use.... We are running out of peanut butter and the jam is gone so breakfasts might be strange. Actually the only thing we still have lots of .... is Wine!!! Now how does one use that up for breakfast.....?? I have bought so much wine for the goofy labels as I want to make a collage hanging with labels..... Most of the red wine has got drank, but still left with chocolate red wine, sweet wine and wines that the label is wonderful but not even sure what it is....lol Also some of the white wine that sells for $2.95....not the greatest but perfectly drinkable.....
Did I tell you, I really don't even like the taste of wine......
I am very concerned on how we get everything into the car to go home.
As we have summer clothes , winter clothes and boots, old clothes and new clothes (mainly because we have both gained back over half of the weight we lost before we came ) then there are great deals we got on bedding and towels, 2 new comforters and 2 blankets (we bought for the blow up beds for company) bag chairs (for people to sit on when they visit us) vases and flowers and ornaments bought to make the place homey, all the craft things I made, and all the craft supplies I bought here plus the huge container I brought with me. Oh and also another computer and printer we bought here as ours were kapput.....
Well that just tired me out talking about packing all that stuff....there is a park sale that is taking donations for March so we may have to see what all they will take......
Time to get going.................

Monday Monday
I am up early and ready for our bus trip today to the Fort McDowell Casino for the day. I think Ft McDowell is north of Mesa so it will be about a 90 min drive. It only costs us $5 each for the bus trip so that is the cheap part of the day. All we ask is that we get to play the slots for a few hours with out losing our allotment....if we win any money that is just a bonus.
Friday saw us drive up to the Mesa Market or as they used to call it "Mesa Swap Meet" It was huge and just about anything you would want to buy. A massive amount of womens clothes (tops) and lots of jewllery but too big to cover it all in the 2 hours we were there. We then hopped over to Hobby Lobby so I could look for a few things I needed to add to my crafting needs. We were back home by supper time and wiped out. I have no idea how some snowbirds live in those huge cities with the ridiculas traffic.
Saturday morning I went into Casa Grande early to get 3 of my fingernails repaired and then to our craft class at In a Pear Tree. This time we sat out side in the sun at a table on the sidewalk. There were 12 in the class as we made our collaged Name plaque. Interesting techniques and fun people made it a great day. In the picture above that is my crafting friend Peg to my left. She is from Wisconsin and lives just down the street here at Sunscape.
And here is my finished basket that I made in the Basket Weaving class last week
Yesterday we had our friends Art and Carol Berg in for supper with lots of laughs, cards, wine and food. We went over to the Sky Diving and Wind Tunnel with them as they had never been there before. It was a very busy day there with lots of jumpers , lots of tandem jumps and may spectators,

Only 12 Sleeps Left
Our time is quickly running out and soon we will start packing to head north. We wish we had planned to stay for one more month but finances say no and last night, for the first time, I said, "I think I want my own bed." I certainly do understand why people keep coming back every year. Good friends are made and there is never time to get bored. I tend to make friends quickly and Harvey, as the more quiet one in this relationship lol, does not usually get too involved, but here, where ever we go, some one is always saying Hi Harv, and he is busy chatting and I am left standing...lol This is because of all the nice men he has made friends with at pool 3 times a week. He is already talking about how we can save money from now till next December so we can come back. Hello ... Kraft Dinner!
The Wiens clan returned from Disneyland with Aiden feeling better and saw us heading the next day to the Skydiving Wind Tunnel where they all flew for their 4 mins while I videotaped. We then drove up to Apache Junction and wandered through the Goldfield Ghost Town, ate icecream, looked at live reptiles, (well not me...I refuse to pay to look at snakes) and tried to explain to the kids about the old west. The next morning we tried to take in a craft sale but due to rain it had to be moved inside and almost unable move as too many people, too little room. We had a Valentine lunch at Mimi's and afterwards drove up to Tempe to Arizona Mills Mall to go to SeaLife Aquarium. The kids enjoyed seeing all the fish but it certainly was not worth the price they charge. The Arizona Mills mall is HUGE. Karen, Mya and I stopped for 10 mins and the guys walked on.... we then tried to find them and walked the whole oval of the mall which took about a half hour of walking and somehow no one thought to phone. We finally got back to the rides area and phoned them. They had never left section 1, while we had motored through all 6 sections. Mya rode the Merry Go Round while we waited, and then Aiden and Mya went on the Bungee jump. They were strapped in just like real bungee jumps and then they jump on a trampoline and the rubber ropes pull them up about 40 feet into the air. They laughed and screamed in joy.....so much fun for them.
We headed home on the I 10 and K and K headed to their hotel near the airport for a very early flight the next morning back to Great Falls and then the drive home. We experienced traffic, rain and a sudden dust storm that took visibility way down. They experienced bumper to bumper 6 lanes of traffic, rain and then hail....
The last two days saw more pool for Harvey, canasta for me, a wine and cheese park party, some shopping and Bingo. I bought a winter jacket that was $165 for $33 so that made a good day...even though the thought of returning to winter is not fun.
Today, the plan is to drive up to the Mesa Market Swap Meet. Just another thing one must do while in Arizona. It is comprised of 5.5 acres, 1600 booths of shopping and I assume too many people. I think Harvey would rather be going to pool today but this is our last free weekend to go.

Lazy I guess
I have not been posting lately as I will say I am just lazy. I can not figure out how one can be so busy doing nearly nothing.
The 5th saw us going to a couple of craft and patio sales that were pretty well nothing. I did buy a large blanket for 50 cents to put on top of the air mattress. I washed in boiling hot wash with bleach to kill anything that may have sat on it. we were then off to the Franscisco Grande Hotel for a nice lunch and toured the hotel and grounds. This hotel is where major league ball teams had their spring training in the 60's and 70's The likes of Willie Mays and Juan Marichal honed their hall of Fame talents here and it was also a place that the likes of John Wayne and Pat Boone made their home away from home in the desert. The Golf course is beautiful and I am sure still sees celebrity usage as it is out in the desert away from publicity. We saw no one lol
On the morning of the 6th we made our way into Mesa and went to the Superstition Mall and walked around and then visited with Harvey's friend Dave Friggstad for awhile and then headed for the airport to wait for the arrival of Karen, Ken, Mya and Aiden. We were so excited as we had not seen the little ones (well all of them lol) for 2 months and as we usually see them 2 -3 times a week we were in withdrawal. It looked like they were excited to see us as Aiden ran fast as soon as he spied us. On the way to our place, we took them to Queen Creek Olive Mill for lunch and to sit and enjoy the Arizona sun. (It would have been better if they had left Canada with 6 feet of snow and minus 30 temps.)
The next day we went to town and Mya got a pedicure and manicure while her Mom got a pedicure. Aiden and the men walked the toy aisle's until Aiden found a toy he wanted. For lunch we went to Peter Piper Pizza which also has an arcade where kids can buy tokens to use in the games and win prizes. It is kind of like a big peoples casino....put in money and get the fun but no winnings lol
The afternoon took us to Eloy Skydiving and the wind tunnel. There were lots of British RAF men skydiving and so we were able to watch them descend and land. The kids enjoyed watching divers practise in the wind tunnel and want us to book a time for them to do it on Monday.
The morning of the 8th, the Wiens clan left for Disneyland for 3 days of fun. Aiden got sick the night they got there and so far has seen Disneyland only from the hotel room window. He has been so sick he has not even wanted to go out of the room. We are sure hoping he is feeling better today (their last day there)
Yesterday I took in a Basket Weaving class and really enjoyed learning a different craft. I was a long day as we started at 9 and went until 4 with no breaks. Very hard on the fingers and hands as one has to push and pull the wet reeds to make them tight. Mine was not perfect but it was unique. lol It is now being stained and a preservative applied to cure it. It will be ready on Wed.
Today we will take in the craft and patio sales here at our park and then off to town to get my nails repaired from basket damage. I loved my long gel nails but I am not very careful with them and tend to damage them easily. So I will get new ones today and then that is the last time as I let my nails convert back to Lac Pelletier dirt diggers for spring. You are going to have spring weather for us in March, are you not????
Tuesday is the 100th birthday for Arizona so lots of festivals and celebrations going on this coming week. Well it actually seems that there has been some sort of festival every week end we have been here.... I am not sure if it is just Arizonians that like to go to festivals or if it is a way to milk the Canadians that add so much to their economy. Well at least I know one couple that has helped their recession excessively.
There I am back up to date......Procastionation has been defeated once again......

More crafts
The Crushed Glass Collage class was great as it was so interesting to learn the techniques to make designs and pictures out of broken glass. They mostly had broken wine bottles, beer bottles and a few other colored glass. We learned how to break the glass correctly and how to glue and build. My friend Peg and I made the handbag design and really figure we would do it differently next time. The others used rounded pieces of glass to build it higher to start with, and then add more glass on top of that. We just picked pieces and filled in the design. I chose to mostly used broken pottery in black and white checker design and pink and green broken dishes.... I now know I put on too much glitter at the end as I think it is a bit too sparkly... Others made a cross, a cowboy boot, a jug and a fleur d'Lis .......
The size is 10 x 12 on the canvas and I may paint the canvas a different color yet....
Yesterday we went to the Gourd Festival....mind blowing to see the thousands of people that pack the place over the three days it is open. We learned a bit on the usage of gourds and saw them made into many artistic items that were for sale or were juried. We started in the Kindergourd building where it told about gourds in the very basic forms. Then on to the marketers and asked questions on certain things. One fellow only sold the carving saws, drills, sanders and burning tools to use on the very hard shells. He was from Berkly Calif and said the best bits in the world for the burning tools that he buys, come from Martinsville Sk.
Unbelievable the beauty of some and the intricate carving , painting, and embellishing with wire, feathers, jewels etc etc. The Wuertz Gourd farm (which is just down the road from us), sells about 45000 gourds of every shape and size and I do mean every shape. It was fun watching people hold up the weird shaped ones, imagining what they could be come in an art form, and piling into their wagons or baskets.
And of course, lots of food booths, offering things like Kettle Corn, Fry bread, sugared nuts, curly chips, all kinds of BBQ, hamburgers, sausage dogs, and the two things I have avoided at each festival we have been at....frog legs and alligator. I would not even buy fries from a booth that sold those two. I would not want alligator juice on my food.
The gourd I bought is pictured above. I will need to soak it in water for a few days to soften it enough to take the outer skin off , try to use my own tools to cut it open to remove the inside seeds and the dry material (which is highly moldy and one needs to wear a mask while doing it) and then make it into a wonderful piece of art, a bird house, or a bird feeder or if that doees not work, just use the pieces for compost....( which may be what happens when one does not have the proper tools.)

Prisons
There are 7 prisons in the city of Florence which is 20 minutes away from us. There are different levels of prison yards from minimum to maximum security. There are also 125 on death row waiting execution. On Feb 14th is the annual Hells Angel's Prison Run where 100's of bikers descend on the city and set up camping on the outskirts of the city and then do a bike run around each of the prisons in support of their friends who are inside the walls, to let them know they have not been forgotten....Scary ? Yes
If you are a group supporting criminals, why is it allowed to happen. Many are probably carrying weapons like some Americans here....Scary?? Yes
It is open to the public...Yes ...so do we attend ? Nope!
But we may go to the Arizona Hogfest on Feb 25th..... I thought it was Harley's event, but find out it is where they have Beer sampling and 20 BBQ teams smoking whole hogs for an all you can eat BBQ, old school rock bands ? fireworks and sky divers jumping at night.
Tomorrow is the start of the Wuertz Gourd Festival or as it is called "The Running of the Gourds".
Gourd growing and crafting seems to be a huge thing down here and there are mega classes at the Festival to take to learn how to make things out of Gourds and I am sure one can buy lots there as well, plus food booths etc.

Craft Class
I attended a craft class on Sat morning to make a collage picture that I had liked on the wall of my favourite store "In a Pear Tree". There were 7 of us taking the class from the artist that has lots of her quirky pieces for sale in the store. It was very well done with all pieces we needed to use, cut a ahead and assembled in plastic bags for us. The class was about 2.5 hours long and I had a great time learning a new craft idea.
Of course when I got home, my create juices were running fast, so I made a couple more hangings for the living room.... These I made in about 20 mins and I am quite happy how they look from a distance ...ha ha

Saturday evening was the Mystery Dinner where you had to decide what you were getting for supper from a list of words that had a hidden meaning related to the item on the menu. The meal was three course and the following where how I had my meal.
First course: Baked Potato with sour cream
Bun
Apple sauce
Cup of Iced Tea
Second Course: Napkin
Peas, Beans and Corn
Caesar Salad
Egg roll
Fork
Third Course: Spoon
Roast Pork
Knife
Pineapple Upside down Cake
Harvey was just ready for anything in any order. But lucked out getting a knife and fork with his first course

Back at it.
It seems I have not posted for a few days but I will just blame it on having company..... But really it is just getting stressed trying to do it when my Internet connection goes out half way through each time. Today I am over in the Club house and the connection is great.
As far as the dental plate, I cancelled out of my appointment knowing that the cost would be so big even for the consultation and I don't think it can be fixed. I also slept in!!
We have been on one bus trip to another casino where I had a great machine and played on it all day. I won and lost and came home up $50 but others in our house did not do as well. lol
Vel and I spent one day just doing the stores in the Promenade Mall. Well actually after about half the stores, we were pooped out and came home. There were lots of great deals and I got 2 nice pairs of dress pants for $9 each and many tops (some even jewelled) for around $5 each .
Yesterday we did a day trip up to Goldfield Ghost Town in Apache Junction where we walked the streets of the old west, went into the saloons, bordellos and other shops and watched a gun fight in the street in front of us.
I was taking pictures out on the street and Vel and Harvey were sitting on the bench infront of a store and one of the bad guys came up to me and asked who are those two you are taking pictures of....I said "my husband and sister in law ."
.He asked if I wanted them taken out and I said.."What would it cost?" and he said "What would you pay?"...I said...".Well, a girl in a bordello costs $2.00 , so a fiver should do the job"... He agreed and said he would take the bodies to Boot Hill for the price as well.
Later in the day we saw him and I said..I thought you were going to take out my hubby... He said "We did ..last night... and he is a heavy drinker but a great dancer lol"
We also went to Apacheland Movie Studios or what is left of it. This was a place that a lot of famous old movie stars made movies...like Elvis in "Charro" ,also TV shows like "Death Valley Days", "Have Gun Will Travel". "Rawhide". "Wagon Train", "Bonanza" and many many more.
The church where Elvis lay dying in "Charro" has now been made into a memorial chapel to Elvis.
There have been two suspicious fires at this place that have destroyed many buildings.
On the way home we stopped for gas and Harvey realized that he had never got back his credit card after paying for our lunch at the Mammoth Saloon. We were too far away to go back so we phoned Mastercard to cancel our cards.....Sheesh how do I shop now.....
I also tried to call my friend at the credit union to ask her about new cards and somehow when I thought I did not get her, I did not cancel the call, so her and another friend listened in, while we drove home arguing about being lost near the prisons in Florence and how fast Harvey was driving. I am glad we were able to give them something to laugh about before they left for the day....lol

Alive and well
All is well here at Sunscape, but Internet connection is awful. Every time I try to write something "poof" it disappears as I lose connection.
Tues at 8:00 am I am going to a different dentist office that assures me someone will look at my denture and tell me what can be done and will not x-ray my head....
Saturday the phone rang and Harvey answered it and it was the Aspen Dental Office (the Mafia guy) and it was a recording saying " We are sorry we were not able to help you yesterday and value your business so please phone back and make another appointment" Oh I will phone back and tell them to please take all the personal information I was forced to give them and to tear it up in little bits and shove it up their ...x-ray machine...
Yesterday was the Street Fair and Car show and it was fabulous. I would think there were at least 150 booths in the downtown streets and lots of antique cars. We did buy a few things but found lots we liked and hoped to go back to get later but the feet just wore out.
Next was a half hour drive to Maricopa to Harrah's Ak Chin Casino and had their Seafood buffet. Now it was free for signing up for their player card but we saw some paying $24 for it. It was ok but I would never have paid that amount , and I certainly have had better buffets.
Today we shopped a bit and then went out to Eloy again to watch the skydivers. We figured it was a place to sit in the sun and enjoy the jumps....As soon as we got there the sky clouded over the sun went away and it was cold so we came home soon.
Tonight was we had a choice paying $8 to listen to a semi famous Yodeler or go play Trivia. We chose Trivia and only 8 showed up. Some of the hardest questions I have ever heard.....like "What is the name of the worlds deepest trench? For those of you wanting the answer it was Mariana Trench......I never even knew that they named trenches ........
Tomorrow we leave at 8:30 am on a bus trip to Wild Horse Casino for the day....It costs $5.00 and we get in on lots of money draws and other free stuff. As I said before "I will never be one of those seniors who goes south for the winter, plays bingo and goes on free bus trips" Oh dear what has happened to me......
Well it is now 9:35 pm and 5 mins past my bed time...... so Goodnight

Thought of the day
My friend Donna gave me a motivational thought calandar that I have on my kitchen counter. This is the one for two days ago...
WELL I DID MANY TIMES
Complete Frustration
A few days ago, I developed a sore spot under my bottom partial dental plate and had to take it out to let it heal. Some how two days later I found that it was bent and a crack was in the metal part that attached to my four remaining teeth. I had it in my pocket and so I sat on it or some other ridiculous accident happened to cause this crack. I ate like a rabbit for a day and smiled carefully before I decided I needed to find a denturist to see if it could be fixed and how much? Now at home a denturist is very easy to find....Phone Pratt or Plaza Denture Clinic ..... I went to the yellow pages and not a denturist listed in Casa Grande. Oh yes 7 pages of dentists but it said they did denture repairs. I closed my eyes and picked one, made a phone call and had an appointment at 3:15. They said to fill out the paper work on line and that would speed things up. I did and printed it off to take with me.
I found the big building in the Walmart lot that yelled "RICH" entered and was told that there were 3 more pages to fill in.....ok??? I had to answer every medical history question you could imagine from was I nursing? to every surgery I might have had, every drug I had taken in the last year to height, weight and how many pimples on my butt....well not really the last one, but they might as well have asked.....
I was soon called in and taken to a small room where I was told to hang my purse on a hook way up high.....I said "WHY" ? She said "so you can go stand in front of the x-ray machine for your x-rays".....I replied "You have to be kidding?" She said "No ..you are a new patient and must have x-rays but they are free the first time." I said "I am here to have my dental plate looked at to see if it can be fixed and I do not believe in x-rays unless they are for a medical problem I am dealing with....."
She said "I will go talk to the office manager" She came back and told me to go have a chair and he would be out to talk to me. After 10 mins he came out and said in a stern Mafia type voice "So I hear you do not want an x-ray?" I said "you are right. I phoned and asked if I could have my dental plate looked at to see if it could be fixed." He said the only way to do that is to be made a patient first with x-rays and dental check up , cleaning etc and then they would assess my plate. I said "That is pure Bull shit and absolutely ridiculous. I came to have a piece of plastic in my purse looked at and not to have a medical procedure on my body." He said "well you will not find a place in town that is just a dental lab and so Good bye"... I said $#^%$#@@, No, I didn't but if I was a swearing woman..I am sure I would have....... I left very frustrated and did what any fat woman would do....I went and bought an ice cream cone...
We are so lucky to live in Canada where universal health care is free and never have to be asked if we have insurance etc and where medical people do not rule the government..... Go Obama...fix America...I know you can......
I can not even imagine having to pay the high premiums Americans do for medical insurance, and having to think about cost when it comes to medical procedures like doctor visits, x-rays, surgery, birth of babies, MIR's, fixing broken bones etc. We are so advanced over the US when it comes to health....
So after that rant. back to my dental plate and what I did..after the ice cream....I went to Walmart and bought crazy glue and put it on the crack. I washed it good this morning and put into my mouth not sure if it would poison me or what. Now the next thing is to drive 2 hours and go to Mexico and get a new plate in a few hours for cheap..... Just to find a free day to do that.........
I found the big building in the Walmart lot that yelled "RICH" entered and was told that there were 3 more pages to fill in.....ok???

Boring
Monday was a very laid back day where we did zippo. I had some allergy symptoms pop up at 2 am and by 4am I took a nighttime Benydril and thus slept until 9 and felt like crap all day long. I washed some clothes, went to the club house to do some computer work (much stronger signal over there).Harvey went for a long walk and marvelled at the amount of water sitting on sand after our 12 hour rain. The evening was spent watching the Betty White Birthday Special on TV ....
See I told you it was a boring day and not worth me writing it....
Today we are off to town to get an oil change, a hair cut for Harvey, groceries and the Farmers Market for great artisan breads and buns.......
Well they must have noticed how boring this post was as a huge hot air balloon just came down in the garbage area. We think it must be a problem as why would a hot air balloon sit down there,,,,must be an easier way to get rid of your trash lol

Monday Monday
It looks like I took the weekend off and did not post at all.... I actually don't know the difference between weekday and weekend..they all look the same when you are retired.
Saturday morning was the craft sale and it started at 8 am. Now who goes to garage sales at 8 am...that is a ridiculous time but, many seniors had been up for hours and ready for the excitement.....lol
I sold about $70 of cards but purchased about $140 of things that vendors around me were selling. Good thing I do not do that for a living.
One of the vendors that I was chatting with asked if I was setting up a table next month and I said "No". He said " Well the talk is, that none of the vendors are coming either if you are not going to be here to buy our stuff lol " Funny guy.....
The vendor across from me was selling neat T shirts and sweat shirts that I really liked and so I bought, the man next to me on one side sold polished wood things and I bought a frig magnet that is the strongest magnet I have ever found. He said one magnet will hold a whole newspaper on the frig door and it does. BUT...who wants a newspaer stuck to their frig door....
I also bought a sweater jacket, a necklace and a padded bag to hold my GPS and cords. Harvey bought a Sunscape RV Park polo shirt and I begged him to go find other things to buy to ease my guilt but he did not....
After the craft sale was over at noon, we headed over to the Fair grounds which is just down the road where the Home, Health and Garden show was going on along with a car and motorcycle show.
We spent about an hour there ( not good at all) and home for supper and off to the Texas Holdum tourney at 7 pm. Harvey was able to hold out till the last table and won 4th prize of $25.....I was about the 4th of the 25 players that ran out of chips and so I was home about an hour before Harvey.
Sunday morning saw us off to Florence to pick up the Bergs and off to Queen Creek Olive Mill for their "Festival of the New Oil" We looked forward to lunch and sitting out under the olive trees and listen to all the live music and goings on while we sampled wine and cheese . We had our lunch, looked around the wonderful store and then outside. As we were sampling our wine, the rain started and got quite heavy so we headed inside to sample all the different kinds of olive oils, balsamic vinegars, and tapenades.....Oh they were fabulous and nothing you can buy in the local store can hold a candle to any of them. We bought Roasted Garlic Olive Oil, Meyer Lemon Olive Oil, Caramelized Red Onion and Fig Tapenade and 3 bottles of Balsamic vinegar --aged, fig, and chili. The chocolate olive oil was very interesting but did not buy....
Karen got a new app for her iPhone called "Aging Booth" You take your picture and then it ages you....Karen's was so funny so I tried it ...How do you think I look with white hair...I just may go that route ....
and here is Karen's for those of you that are not her friend on Facebook.

Crafty me
I have finally started making a few things to brighten up the house a bit .
I made a grouping of 6 blocks for one wall as seen below.... Just 5 pieces of Styrofoam, a few pieces of scrap booking paper and glue and some peel off tape on the back to hold them up until we leave, and then they will go in garbage....so easy and so nice looking
In the kitchen, I took some old coasters from home, painted them blue, photocopied some vintage pictures off the web and Mod Podged them on to the coasters. These too are hung using removable tape.....
Today is Friday 13th so stay safe out their dear friends and family. Don't walk under any cats or let any black ladders cross in front of you....or visa versa I guess.
This afternoon we will be helping the park set up for the craft sale tomorrow morning. I will have to be there by 7:30 at the latest on Saturday to set up my table to sell cards. I went to another park yesterday to check out their crafts and to see if any one was selling cards to see what they are charging to give me an idea on what to charge..... Two women were selling cards and theirs were so different from mine I figured I would just sell them all for $2.00 and get rid of as many as possible.
Those I like myself will be priced at $3.00 and then I can start over when I get home and create some different ones. ( Or maybe I will do more of altered art things such as journal covers and wall hangings.) I had close to 300 cards and time to get rid of them if I can.
For those wondering about Harvey dancing on his birthday, it did not happen as we did not go to the Gallopin' Goose as it was full and no room for the group that were planning on going. Our friends met us in the city at the Golden Corral Buffet and we kind of overate the evening away and then back to our place for coffee and chat.
Harvey says thanks to all those who sent Birthday wishes via the blog, email, Facebook or phone calls.

Happy Birthday Harvey
As today is Harvey's birthday, I thought I would honor him by putting his picture at the top of the page. I will then wake him to see if he wants to go to a craft sale with 80 tables at another park. I know he will go even if he is bored as he likes to get out.
Yesterday afternoon we were sitting on our one love seat, the rest are lawn chairs, playing on our two laptops. At the same time we both said...and laughed...."we might as well be home at the lake doing this" But at least we can go out side without a coat, mitts or tougue. It has only been around 17 for some days and also two days of clouds but hope it clears off soon and gets warmer.
Yesterday at billiards, there was a bit of a ruckus, when one opinionated and sarcastic fellow, finally got on another's nerves and the second fellow announced.."I am leaving and I will not be back as long as YOU are here." They then had a meeting and were told how to play nice lol. Yes we start out in life as children saying just what we think and later in life we revert back to those same traits.
Tonight we are off to the Gallopin' Goose for supper and dancing..lol Harvey says "Dancing? over my dead body lol lol"

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
It seems I have not posted for two days, as some readers have drawn to my attention with emails. This is not a novel and the next chapter probably will not get any more exciting and there is no plot and we sure as heck hope, there is no surprise ending..haha
Oops I just see where the last post did not go through either..... so two today.......
I have been busy setting up my new computer and GPS. Well that is not really true, as I paid Office Max to set up the new notebook, $69 and in that, they installed the virus scan. I came home to try to get the GPS set up, by connecting to my new computer. This one has a lifetime of free map updates but that had to be set up on the computer now. Well, somehow in the process, I uninstalled everything I paid the guy $69 to do, as all of a sudden I had no Virus scan and a few other strange things happened. So the next day, with head hung low, I had to go back and confess what I did. I thought they may charge me again but the nice fellow Danny played around for awhile and then reversed the uninstall,. I bet I could have done that easy myself. haha.
We went to Card Bingo the other night where you deal out cards and then the caller calls the cards ( 3 of hearts) and if you have it, you throw it away and the first person to get rid of all cards can yell Bingo and win the pot. Now the last game costs $1 so with 40 people that is a nice win. Some games cost .25 cents but most games cost 10 cents. Yes that is one of the ones I won but had to share with some one else and came home with BIG WIN OF $1.90....oh getting old is fun......
Yesterday morning was the Sir John A MacDonald Birthday Bash Breakfast for all Canadians in the park. It was held at a restaurant in town called the Golden Corral. It was a fabulous buffet with a choice of 50 plus dishes including steak cooked to your liking, all the usual breakfast fare, many kinds of pies, fresh hot donuts and muffins, a full length of table full of hot Mexican breakfast things, omelet station and much more.
All for $5.99 . The only thing that was not much fun was that all the Canadians seemed to come in groups and sit together and talk. We were lonely........
Today I spent getting ready for the craft sale on Saturday, where I hope to get rid of a bunch of my cards....It is from 8 to noon and as well there are yard sales all over the park....
Tomorrow, we have been invited out for supper and dancing at the Gallopin' Goose in Coolidge which is 12 miles away, with Art and Carol Berg and another couple. This worked out great, as Thursday is Harvey's birthday and so he will get to do what he loves best ...Dancing...NOT. But it will be fun to eat, visit and listen to music and celebrate his last year of his 6th decade.

Stolen Goods
I have stole cotton and I have stole an orange.
Now the cotton is still standing in the fields after most has been harvested, I think, and the orange had been knock from the tree, so I am not sure if this constitutes stealing or not. I think the cotton is so neat as we had never seen the cotton fields before and the amount of cotton laying on the roads sides would stuff a mattress if I stopped and picked it all up, but that I am not about to do lol.
I also have become addicted to fresh dates. They are the sweetest thing I have tasted in a long time and every time we go to town we pass a stand selling them...There are two kinds ,the larger Medjool palm date that they say are more for cooking but taste great too. The smaller Honey Dates are the best and if one just happens to stop and buy a bag on the way into town to shop by ones self, one might find that the bag is near empty by the time one gets back home. Scrumptious
I am writing this on my new HP Notebook and as I am not very good on the finger pad and have yet to go buy a wireless mouse, this is all for today

Expensive Day
The day started with my finding a list of many garage sales, printing off the addresses and then creating and printing off a map with the places of the garage sales, then convincing Harvey we should try to find them. We left at 10 am (which makes most of the good stuff picked over already) and headed into the city with the GPS ready. "Gladys the GPS" took us to the first one, which of course meant, everyone else on the street threw a table into their drive way and joined the Sat morning fun. We looked at lots of junk, like at home, and went onto the next one.....I bought a mug...... (not worth the gas).. I programmed in the next place which was in the old town and Gladys just turned over on her side and passed away. She no longer could find the satellite signal and felt she had served her purpose and was not going to play our game any longer. I hoped when I plugged her into my computer at home she would get jolted back to life but no response. Maybe she just wants to be back in Canada and also figures she should have a holiday as well. After many stores comparing prices we bought a new GPS that is a lot bigger and today I will get it set up. It is funny how by the time I unfold a map and Harvey pushes it aside, yelling, because he can't see the road we have missed the place we are going, so a GPS has become as vital to our sanity as sleep. How times change, soon paper map companies will die with the mail service.
We then made the purchase of a new laptop computer as the hard drive in mine is nearly kaput as well. That too will be on today's agenda to get the HP notebook set up. Now as long as the old Dell keeps going we will have two computers while here.
As we were in old downtown, we walked the streets, had lunch and then I then found a store to die for.....I asked the owner if I could just move in and live there for two months. It is called "In A Pear Tree" and has all types of funky art things like jewellery, clothes, paintings, purses, shoes, and a zillion other things that you can take classes and make yourself. It is a mixture of crafty things (I figure I want to try to make) and out landish things that yell "ME". I signed up for one class already, to make a wall hanging, and as the class is held out on the sidewalk in front of the store under the awning, I will feel like I am in Paris, creating my art on a street corner, with passer bys , stopping to look at what I am doing. lol
In the evening, was our Texas Holdum tournament, which my auto correct on my iPhone, told Karen I was going to a Texas Holdup tournament. About 30 residents (ooooh that sounds like the Palliser) mostly men, showed up and a fun evening was held. I outlasted Harvey by about 20 mins but soon I was out of chips as well, and home we went. I was at a table with 5 men who most seemed to be grumpy and way to serious about the game. They had no sense of humor and no talking. They all seemed to be playing like those they watch on TV and I was amazed they never had sun glasses on to hide their emotions when bluffing. Most were alos, quite hard of hearing, which added to my enjoyment. Yikes I am too young for this park I think lol
We have nothing planned for today, so maybe I will finally get busy in my craft shed and get some things created for the walls.

3rd Post of the Morning
Due to the stubbornness of the weak Internet in the house, I have not been able to post some days so today I am catching up and posting three times.
After having my pedicure, we got Harvey a phone as his phone could not be programmed for the states so it was left at home. I did not like him not having a phone on him when we were separated and someone said get one at Walmart. It cost $9.88, plus a $20 card that gives him 130 mins or 150 days.
It will not be used much but if it is he can just buy another card. They program in a number for you and BAM he has a phone. We learn from experience and with the poor reception I get on my iPhone, I am not sure that the next time, we would not just get 2 of these phones and the line phone (45 a month) and scrap the iPhone North American Plan that costs $95 a month where data is of no use when out of WiFi area and phone reception is simply awful.
Next we headed east to Desert Gardens near Florence where Art and Carol Berg are staying. We took a tour of their park and all the elegant facilities and then headed out for an afternoon of driving and seeing areas we had not seen. We headed up an Arizona mountain to the Ray copper mine where we viewed them mining the copper way down in the valley. It was like watching dinky toys which were actually huge trucks and equipment. Very interesting to see how they had cut the hills in their mining.
Art then thought he would show how we can get to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway airport that he did not know existed. After trying to find the airport on his GPS (which obviously did not know the airport existed as well), for some time, I remembered I had the address with me. So he imput the info and off we went. After many different freeways and more freeways (it seemed to us) we found the airport. At this point it was heard from my mouth or Harveys...."Maybe Vel could taxi to our house....or maybe she could walk....or maybe she could fly to the little sky diving airport near us.." Harvey and I were very confused as we had never driven in the huge area of Mesa and all the cities that seem to all blend in. A great mall was very near the airport and as we were hungry we thought we would go eat. I saw a place called "Sweet Tomatoes". I had read about it but could not remember what it was , but thought we would give it a try. It is a huge salad buffet with pretty well any thing you would want to put into a salad. You then could choose from 5 different kinds of soups and many topping for those. This was followed by diff breads, biscuits or corn muffins, baked potatoes (white and sweet) and all the toppings as well or two kids of pizza. Then desserts of apple crisp, different kinds of soft yogurt (which tasted more like ice cream) and hot choc or hcarmel sauces and lots more toppings. You could go back as many times as you wanted and all for $10.99. We realized that it is a very healthy buffet with all most no fat or no sugar, no MSG, lots of whole wheat products etc and also NO MEAT.
It was very good though and would recommend if you see one.
It was dark when leaving and Art decided to program into the GPS the shortest way home and we flew back to their place as easy as pie and at that time we realized that we could get to the airport very easy going this way....so have no fear visitors...we will not leave you at the airport.

Back at the Bergs motor home, we had coffee and many laughs,
triggered by the fact that I had left voice memo, on my phone, turned on , in
my pocket, and had recorded our whole conversation for the last hour or more.
Carol also told us about her "crafty" nature and how she could create
just about any thing from a cut off milk carton, even while the vehicle is
driving along the interstates. A fun day in all.
Pedicure Heaven
I had posted this on Face Book yesterday but figured it needed a spot on my blog. As I had said on an earlier blog, my toes were so happy to finally get back into sandals and see the sun, but they were a bit "toothie" as I really needed a pedicure, and paint job.
The Super Wal-Mart in Casa Grande has a Nails Only shop, that when I have passed could see it is very busy and has about 10 or 12 employees. About half male and half female and I found out they are all from Viet Nam.....some, who can not even speak English. There is no service desk at all and so when I first walked one day, I had to look around and try to find out how to get an appointment. Quickly a fellow came up to me and advised that you just walk in and someone will help you, no appts allowed....same as the hair salon.... So today I walked in , with my toes wiggling in excitement.
It was wonderful.... My fellow was named Louis, his birth name I could not even understand, but it did have a "looo" sound in it , so I imagine that is why someone decided he should be called Louis.
He took a full hour and he worked on my toes for about 30 mins, then my whole foot was sanded, buffed and massaged. Next my legs were massaged, pounded, lubricated and hot stones rubbed all over them and the last 5 mins were spent painting......An hour of heaven....and all for only $20 plus tip.

SkyDive Arizona
I have a very poor Internet connection here and some how yesterdays post did not go through so there are two today..if this gets posted...... SORRY this one did not go through either.....grrrrrr
Yesterday afternoon we decided to drive to Eloy to the Sky Diving capital of the world it seems. We heard so many different languages being spoken I guess skydivers come from all over the world to jump where the land is flat, the sky is clear, the sun is hot and there is no wind. A plane goes up every 20 mins or so with about 10 - 15 jumpers....We watched the plane until it disappears from sight and then watch again as it returns to the terminal. In a few mins the sky lights up with many different colors of parachutes descending.....and they all land in front of us as we sit in the spectator stands. It was spectacular and all free. There is a complete village set up with many motel like housing units, even tents set up, a swimming pool, store, cafe and saloon etc , just for these jumpers who come to spend time jumping all day long. They told us that this weekend is a big weekend for Canadians as a huge number will be coming to jump.
There also is an indoor sky jumping arena which is just a wind tunnel where for a price you can go in and practice falling in space. Any age from 3 up can go in with an instructor who will show you how to ride the wind....It looked fun......

Request
I am not sure why Blogspot makes it so hard for someone to leave a comment on Blogs if you do not have a google account but it just does. If you use google calendar, you would have an account, or if you use GMail, you would as well.
If you do not have a google account, can I ask if you choose to leave a comment and use anonymous, just add your first name or your initials at the end of comment, so I know who wrote it or if it is just someone I don't know who has found my blog..... You can also use unknown and just put in your first name..... you do not have to fill in the URL line
Thanks so much for those of you that have left comments, it is always fun to see your name.
Harvey had a fun day at billiards playing against another park team but he thinks they did not win DUH! I would think that would be important to know lol Oh well he is having fun, but he said he and his partner had some bad luck on some of the shots.....so.....!
Karen, you asked if women could not watch... well here is the story......the first day we were here, we went around to all the activity centres and rooms to see what was going on and we happened to go to the pool room and I walked in with Harvey behind me....About 30 men all looked up and chuckled and one said "Are you looking for Honey Bun"...."just go a head and Yell out "HONEY BUN" so I did and everyone laughed and pointed to one guy....we laughed and left quickly. Now the next day Harvey was playing with all the fellows and I went to the craft and computer room which is next door to the pool room for awhile. As I was heading home,I thought I would just peek in to see how he was enjoying it......I peeked my head around the door and a guy said "Oh it is Honey Bun" every one laughed, Harvey said "What do you want?" I replied "Nothing" and ....Harvey quickly yelled across the room..."Bugger off", which I am sure he regretted after his male pride made him say it lol.
I left promptly..... The next day as he was leaving for pool, he warned me NOT to drop in as the guys make fun of anyone whose wife stops by........so hopefully that answers the questions on the subject of watching the tournament or even taking pictures.
